Tree Evaluations
Tree Health And Risk Assessments
Sometimes it’s right after buying a property, trying to understand what they have and what to pay attention to. Other times something has changed—a tree doesn’t look the way it used to, or a nearby failure raises new concerns. And in many cases, it’s a single tree that just doesn’t feel right.
Either way, the question usually comes down to one of two things.
There’s concern about risk—how a tree relates to a house or areas where people spend time and a failure would matter. Or there’s a focus on the tree itself—how it’s doing, how it’s likely to develop, and what should be done to keep it in good condition over time.
In both cases, the situation is the same.
It’s not clear what you’re looking at, what actually matters, or what—if anything—needs to be done next.
If you’re unsure what you’re looking at, we can take a look and walk you through it.
What to Expect During an Evaluation
Each evaluation begins with a site walk to assess the trees you’re most concerned about. We inspect from the ground for visible signs of decay, disease, mechanical damage, pest activity, and structural defects. Based on our findings, we’ll provide recommendations for pruning, removal, treatment, or continued monitoring.
If needed, we can also provide a written maintenance summary or conduct a formal TRAQ-level risk assessment on a specific tree. (Please note: fees for evaluations and reports are credited toward any recommended work, except for TRAQ assessments, which are standalone documentation.)
Common Signs Your Tree May Need Attention
Once the situation is understood, the next step is determining what actually matters.
Some conditions require attention. Others can be monitored. And in many cases, what looks concerning at first may not be as significant as it appears.
The purpose of the evaluation is to create clarity around those distinctions—so you know what needs to be addressed, what can wait, and what may not require action at all.
If you want to understand what actually matters in your situation, we can take a look and walk you through it.
Long-Term Tree Health Starts Here
Evaluations can be focused on a single tree or expanded to look at multiple trees across a property.
In some cases, the need is specific—a single tree with a question or concern. In others, it’s broader—understanding how multiple trees relate to the property as a whole.
The approach is the same. The scope simply adjusts based on what you’re trying to understand.
What You Get From a Tree Evaluation
In most cases, the outcome is a clear explanation of what’s going on and what your options are.
That may be a conversation on-site, a set of recommendations, or a more formal written assessment when needed.
The format can vary, but the goal is the same—giving you a clear understanding of your trees and how to think about them moving forward.
What Happens After a Tree Evaluation
An evaluation doesn’t point to a single outcome.
In some cases, no action is needed. In others, it may lead to pruning, removal, or changes to how the tree is being managed over time.
For trees that are important to maintain, it often becomes the starting point for ongoing care—helping guide decisions as conditions change.
